Japanese Natural Whetstone Rare Odori -to 532g from Gifu Pref. Japan Free Shipping

Odori is produced in Gifu Prefecture. Originally, porcelain materials were mined at this site, but full-scale mining seems to have started when suitable stones for sharpening stones were mined.

Odori is similar in appearence to Mikawa. It has the abrasiveness of a Mikawa Ban and is often coarser, but the grit size of the one listed here is around #3000. Gray slurry comes out quickly and its sharpening feeling is comfortable. Good link from #1000, as continuing sharpening, the particles become finer and even small scratches made by #1000 can be removed cleanly!

As an aside, it is said that a small number of Odori were also mined with finer grit than Mikawa's Koma.

The owner of the hardware shop, Yamamoto-san, was involved in the production of Odori from mining to shaping, but he has already stopped mining now.

We were given them by a collector who bought them from Yamamoto-san.
