Description

This is a Hideriyama Renge Suita natural whetstone from Kyoto, Japan. Beautiful Renge (lotus) patterns appear across portions of the sharpening surface, giving the stone an elegant and distinctive natural character. The stone provides a sufficiently generous sharpening surface, offering good stability and comfortable handling during use.

It pairs particularly well with Japanese kitchen knives, especially traditional single-bevel carbon steel blades. Although the stone has a relatively soft and gentle sharpening feel, it offers excellent cutting performance. As you sharpen, it continuously develops a high-quality gray slurry, providing a smooth and pleasant sharpening experience while producing a refined edge with just the right amount of bite.

The lines visible on the sharpening surface is not a harmful or toxic Suji, but rather a natural Kesuji (hairline feature) sometimes found in Japanese natural whetstones. It does not cause scratches on the blade during sharpening.

Combining beautiful Renge patterns with excellent sharpening performance, this stone is appealing not only as a highly practical natural finishing stone, but also as an attractive piece for any Japanese natural whetstone collection.

Please note that these are not for beginner sharpeners since they're harder to use.These are natural stones meaning that every single one of them are different so my measured size are not accurate. Returns Policy
