Japanese Chef Knife Tosa Tadayoshi x Sakai Yasuo Yauchi Blue1 Black Kujira 330mm

"Tosa Uchihamono" is a traditional craft with a history of more than 400 years, in which craftsmen use a press or hammer to consistently perform from forging to grinding/sharpening and finishing without using a mold.

Among the Tosa knives produced by such traditional craftsmanship, the "Kujira knife" introduces this time is a knife that has long been used by fishermen, fish shops, and restaurants in Tosa (Kochi Prefecture), the home of  Kujira fishing.

This Kujira knives uses "Yasuki Aogami No. 1", which is one of the highest hardness among steels. It has excellent wear resistance, is hard to chip, and has a long-lasting sharpness.

In order to pursue the sharpness of this Tosa-uchi Kujira knife, we made a special request to have this knife sharpened at Yauchi Hamono Mfg. in Sakai!

Blacksmith: Tadayoshi Tokaji / Tadayoshi Forging Co., Ltd.

Learned the technique of "free forging" and mainly produces sickles, knives. The skill is highly evaluated nationwide and contributes to the spread of Tosa knives.

Mr Tadayoshi Tokaji can make non-standard dimensions and shapes according to customer's needs. Additionally, Tokaji Forging is run by Tadayoshi Tokaji and his son Tsukasa. Both of them certified as a "Takumi of Tosa ( Artisan of Tosa )", Tsukasa is active as a lecturer of technical transfer at the "Blacksmith Creation School" of  'Kochi pref. Tosa Knife Cooperative'.

YASUO YAUCHI, the second generation of sharpeners, has been keeping in mind "warmth to the hand and friendliness to the use", which is the spirit of the craftsman.

Yauchi san specializes in the production of "double-edged knives," which are now few in Sakai, the town of cutlery.

Returns Policy

You may return most new, unopened items within 30 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).
