  A popular, long-lasting Super Fine Finishing whetstone that is reliable.

A superior model with a slick surface, the snow-white ( item no. W-8 ) and bamboo green ( item no. G-8 ) Super Fine Finishing #8000 is popular with professionals. It hones long blades beautifully. Includes a Nagura for adjusting.

W-8 Snow White: It so called WA Whetstone. The WA Whetstone uses a kind of alumina (aluminum oxide) called white alundum for the abrasive grains. The chemical composition of the abrasive grain alumina is Al2O3, and it is made by putting alumina in powder form, bond serving as binder (filler), etc. in a mold and baking it. It is an inexpensive whetstone compared to diamond etc. It can be said to be one of the representative useful whetstone in consideration of wear and tear. WA is compatible with steel materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, tool steel and stainless steel, it is known as a grinding wheel with excellent "sharpness", and it is particularly effective for relatively hard-to-machine materials such as hardened steel and tool steel.

G-8 Bamboo Green: It so called GC Whetstone. GC stands for Green Carbonate,  and is Green Silicon Carbide. Hardness slightly higher than C of black silicon carbide or SiC of silicon carbide.It is said that the behavior of grinding of abrasive grains is different from WA, which greatly affects not only hardness but also processing performance. A whetstone often used for not only knives but also metal materials.

*Please Soak in water for 5 to 10 minutes before use.. After use, please avoid direct sunlight and dry.

For this product, Suehiro no longer print the label directly on the surface of the stone.It now comes with a label made of cellophane film.
