This is a Hideriyama Renge Suita whetstone from Kyoto, Japan. Beautiful Renge (lotus) patterns are scattered throughout the stone, showcasing the unique beauty that only natural whetstones can offer. Although relatively compact in size, it has ample thickness and weighs 853g, providing a reassuring sense of stability and substance during use.

It pairs exceptionally well with Japanese knives, particularly traditional single-bevel carbon steel blades. While the stone has a relatively soft sharpening feel, it offers excellent cutting performance. During sharpening, it continuously generates a high-quality gray slurry, allowing you to enjoy its smooth, forgiving sharpening feel while producing a refined edge with just the right amount of bite.

Combining beautiful Renge patterns with outstanding sharpening performance, this stone is appealing not only as a highly practical sharpening tool but also as a collectible piece worthy of display in any natural whetstone collection.
