Hideriyama Shiro Suita is a natural finishing stone that combines the characteristic sharpening power of suita stones with the straightforward, easy-to-control sharpening feel for which high-quality Shiro Suita is known.

Although the stone is not perfectly shaped, as can be seen in the photos, the sharpening surface is exceptionally clean, with very few su holes or hairline patterns (kesuji). The surface texture is silky smooth and highly refined.

Its structure is remarkably uniform and releases slurry readily, allowing for stable, predictable, and highly controllable sharpening. The sharpening feel strikes an excellent balance—neither too soft nor too hard—making it suitable for everything from pre-finishing to final finishing work on kitchen knives.

Rather than removing excessive material, the stone refines and develops the edge in a controlled manner, helping to produce a natural, crisp cutting feel. It is also capable of creating a beautiful kasumi finish.
