Japanese Natural Whetstone Mikawa Botan Nagura 922g from Aichi Pref. Japan

This is a medium-sized Mikawa Botan Nagura, a traditional Japanese natural whetstone historically used in Japanese sword polishing.

Mikawa Botan Nagura has long been valued in the sword-polishing process for its excellent abrasive performance and consistent slurry-producing properties. Beyond traditional sword polishing, it is also highly versatile and suitable for sharpening kitchen knives, straight razors, and other precision edged tools.

This particular stone is characterized by its relatively hard, dense structure and fairly fine abrasive texture. Despite its high density, it exhibits excellent cutting ability, quickly generating a rich, dark slurry from the very beginning of sharpening.

The slurry has a smooth, creamy consistency, providing excellent tactile feedback and allowing the user to maintain precise control over the sharpening process. Its fine abrasive particles work evenly across the steel surface, efficiently refining the blade while preparing a uniform foundation for the subsequent finishing stages.

Combining high abrasive efficiency with a remarkably smooth and comfortable sharpening feel, this Mikawa Botan Nagura offers excellent control and consistent performance, making it a highly practical and versatile natural sharpening stone.

Please note These are natural stones meaning that every single one of them are different so my measured size are not accurate. This is a life time investment for people who lives sharpening their knives and tools, do not hesitate to ask me your questions.
