Description

This is a Nakayama Asagi finishing stone, estimated at approximately #10,000 grit, with a hardness close to 4.5 on a 5-point scale. It was acquired from a domestic cutlery dealer who had preserved it for a long period. We understand that this is an older stone dating back to the Showa era.

Despite its firm hardness, it offers excellent abrasive strength and consistently produces a rich black slurry with good release of swarf.

The slurry is extremely fine and easy to control, allowing for precise and delicate edge refinement without roughening the edge. The use of nagura stones is recommended to further enhance performance.

It is particularly well suited for final finishing of razors and traditional woodworking tools, where consistency, edge clarity, and control are essential. It also performs exceptionally well on high-quality kitchen knives when a sharp, clean edge is desired.

Offering a quiet and composed sharpening experience. It is a highly capable finishing stone, ideal for experienced users who value control, stability, and refined finishing performance.

Please note that these are not for beginner sharpeners since they're harder to use.These are natural stones meaning that every single one of them are different so my measured size are not accurate. This is a life time investment for people who lives sharpening their knives, razors and tools, do not hesitate to ask me your questions
