Description

This is a Nakayama Asagi natural finishing stone in the traditional 100-size format. It is particularly well suited as a finishing stone for straight razors and is capable of producing an edge comparable to approximately #10,000 grit.

The stone is relatively hard, approximately Lv.4.5+, and the use of a nagura stone is recommended. During sharpening, it gradually develops a high-quality black slurry while also exhibiting excellent swarf release and resistance to loading.

It is capable of restoring exceptional sharpness to the edge while helping that keen edge last longer. In particular, it excels in the final finishing stages of straight razors, producing a refined and highly polished edge with excellent precision.

There is a minor layer crack visible near the center of the sharpening surface. However, it appears to be shallow and, in my opinion, is unlikely to cause serious scratching during normal use. For best performance, I recommend thoroughly lapping the surface before sharpening.

Please note that these are not for beginner sharpeners since they're harder to use. These are natural stones meaning that every single one of them are different so my measured size are not accurate. This is a life time investment for people who lives sharpening their knives, razors and tools, do not hesitate to ask me your questions

Returns Policy
