Japanese Natural Whetstone Vintage Mikawa Mejiro Dense 1007g from Aichi Pref.

This is a vintage Mikawa Mejiro Nagura that has been stored for many years. Compared with typical Mejiro, this particular stone has a relatively high density and a firm, tightly structured feel.

Despite its density, it releases slurry readily during sharpening, producing a fine, dark slurry as the sharpening progresses. The stone has a pleasant and responsive sharpening feel, while providing good abrasive power and efficient cutting performance.

Small black spots can be seen on the sharpening surface, most likely naturally occurring inclusions. During our test sharpening, these spots did not appear to cause problematic scratching, and no noticeable scratches were observed with the naked eye. However, as this is a natural stone, the characteristics of individual inclusions cannot be completely guaranteed.

Overall, this is a very well-balanced vintage Mejiro: dense and fine in structure, yet capable of producing slurry easily and providing sufficient abrasive power, making it a particularly enjoyable and practical Nagura to use.
